New Theme!
Blogged on December 9th, 2007 at 3:36am..at last. I’ve managed to half-assedly integrate a custom theme onto Wordpress with minimal elbow grease required. Okay, okay.. well, maybe it took me a couple of hours but here we have it! Of course, I’m not finished yet, but given it’s 2:34am and I’m on the verge of falling onto my keyboard, I think I’ll take a kip.
In other news, two drunken incidents have happened outside my house this evening so far, both of which didn’t star me in them. I’m disappointed, Surrey!

Blogged on December 7th, 2007 at 4:25pmAs 2007 is inevitably drawing to a close, especially after my birthday (December 4th), I guess it’s time to look back at all the targets I set myself as a web developer at the beginning of the year.
Make Serious Money
Throughout the year I’ve started to get paid regularly through freelancing. But since October, I’ve found an awesome part time job at Parallel Thinking. Although that homepage isn’t looking brilliant at all, we have been working on what essentially is going to be the next Facebook. I’d love to blabber on about it, but NDAs have had to be signed.
Get To The Top Of Digg
I achieved this earlier, back in April, as a result of taking 3 days off school and writing a 9 page guide on how to slice a basic template into XHTML and CSS. I was #1 for a few hours, and I still get emails from satisfied readers of the guide as well as potential clients. Hooray for CSS Slicing Guide!
Buy My Own Stuff
I achieved this one by far: through upgrading my machine, monitor, buying an iPod and so on. It might seem nothing to someone who isn’t 17, but it’s a nice feeling to have when you start paying your own bills.
So these are the targets I’ve got crossed off the list. Here are a few I didn’t achieve, and a little explanation as to why..
Learn Proper OOP
Call me a victim of those “learn to code in basic OOP” tutorials which don’t go any further than wrapping a load of functions inside a PHP class, but it’s true - I’m still struggling. Kind of. Recently I’ve drawn up a plan to self-teach myself properly, and I’ve been sticking to it. Watch this space!
Successfully Blogging
I guess for this one I just haven’t had the time, or the time management. There are some events which I would have loved to blog about properly, like FOWA with Adam and AvengeXMeet, but my total lack of organization has made these fail. My English skills definitely aren’t lacking, and I do love to write when I have the time, so again - watch this space!
What’s around the corner for me then?
I’m going to get my driving license, hopefully soon, so that should help out a little bit in terms of getting places. As well as that I’ve gotta buy myself a car..
Most importantly of all, however, is sorting out how I spend my time. A lot of it is wasted on gaming, commuting to college and back (although I’ll soon be getting a shiny new laptop from the guys at Parallel Thinking) and general procrastination.
