Groove Folder Synchronization

Blogged on January 12th, 2008 at 4:54pm

I’ve just started using Groove Folder Synchronization, which is a feature in Microsoft Office 2007 that synchronizes folders across the internet through workgroups. It also works a treat for locally networked computers too.

It’s been hanging around in my context menus for a while now, so I thought I might as well use it to make the annoyance worthwhile.

So far I’ve set it up between my laptop and my desktop PC, but I’m asking Alec Rust to join in too - since we’re going to be working together on version 2 of his next site - Webhost-Reviews.org.

There are a few caveats happening at the moment, like the inability to synchronize JavaScript or .htaccess files, but I’m sure I’ll fill those in later. Finally, something useful besides Word and Excel in MS Office! Well done Microsoft!

Malaysia MP Quits over sex DVDs

Checking over my RSS feeds, namely the BBC one, I found this story:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7167497.stm

I think it sucks how people have to quit their jobs for getting their leg over. I mean, in this day and age, liberal views triumph over the old conservative ones. Paris Hilton gets paid to be a celebrity, and one could argue that her sleaze actually gave her more popularity.

Why should people who have important jobs be even more penalized? They’re making some sort of difference (hopefully for the better) instead of whoring around on daytime TV. Cut them some slack.. not in the erotic kind.

Spam.. from myself?

So I just received another email for viagra. Great!.. not. Only this time, it’s marked as coming from myself?! What the hell? So anyways, I’ve looked up the headers and this is what I’ve got:

Received: by 10.100.211.16 with SMTP id j16cs37362ang;        Mon, 7 Jan 2008 09:13:20 -0800 (PST)

This is freaky.. all my systems are secure, following a nasty encounter with spammers using my contact form a few years ago. Where can I report all this stuff? Reply in comments, please.
